PIMPKILLAH: Indie Comic Book And Film Auteur Sarah Bitely On The Evolution Of An Amazing Idea

Image
About five years ago I managed to interview stuntwoman, actress and producer Michelle Jubilee Gonzalez. It was through her I managed to build a rapport with several other veterans and up-and-comers in the industry whilst getting an angle going on covering the stunt field and it was a privelege to be able to exchange with her than as it still is now from time to time.

She's a talented singer as well - a fact that I was reminded of clean and clear when last year, I managed to screen one of her most recent short film appearances, Pimpkillah, courtesy of filmmaker and comic book creator Sarah Bitely. I think it quite surprised Michelle and that was sort of the feeling I got when I commented on one of her posts at the time.

Alas, the shortfilm has since gone public, marking a significant milestone for the budding filmmaker and comic book creator who moved from her hometown on the outskirts of DC/Baltimore in Maryland to Los Angeles, California in 2010. Her coming out party has assuredly …

THE HIT LIST: May 21, 2018

Image
I almost spent my Sunday lingering which I felt like doing frankly, but this week's Hit List needed to get going before long because I just know things are going to pile up like they did this past week and I really need to catch up. Needless to say, this will be the last Hit List installment until June 4 when we return with the usual round of exciting stunt and independent shortfilm content hitting the internets!

The incredible, nimble actor and martial artist Andy Le gets things started in electric fashion with a training reel hailing Martial Club's best, followed by Thekla Hutyrova, Luis Fernandez, Dylan Rampulla, Fernando Campos, Kiara Nowlin, Hawk Walts, János Bognár, Dmitrious Bistrevsky, Amanda Dellapenta and Bayland Kippenkroger.

The last few years have been a bit myopic in trying to get in touch with filmmaker Jeanne Jo. We recently connected this year and I was able to screen her most recent shortfilm, Punch Me, which she had been trying and failing to get into festiv…

Alain Moussi Is A New Man In The Preliminary Teaser For KICKBOXER: ARMAGEDDON

Image
I myself couldn't really get past some of the fan-service that culminates all seemingly ado with the current Kickboxer franchise following the reboot in 2016. I suppose the best part is that Dmitri Logothetis has found a direction to take it in, onward from Vengeance through Redemption and now with the third, Kickboxer: Armageddon. And indeed, that's Alain Moussi in the footage donning a whole new Kurt Sloan we haven't seen before. Brand new look and all!
Other details are officially pending but Logothetis himself has mentioned the possible return of Mike Tyson, Ronadinho and Christopher Lambert in addition to George St. Pierre and other UFC and sports favorites...and Snoop Dogg for some reason? He's also presented a brand new teaser to help stir the fandom some, so check it out anf expect more Kickboxer news onward through 2019.

HITBOY: Don't Miss The Latest Trailer For Bor Ocampo's New Boyhood Crime Pic

Image
Director Bor Ocampo's latest, Hitboy, drew some peculiarities following its recent CineFilipino Film Fest screening this month. Adrian Cabido leads the narrative here playing a thirteen year-old hitman-for-hire, beleagured by a pregnant girlfriend and a strained opportunity to redeem himself to his employer following a botched job.

UnReel's Geoffrey Ledesma rates it at two stars out of five next to a few reviews online that cite it as largely imbalanced between its grimness and comedic delivery. I don't really know what that means myself except at face value, this one might have me feeling unsettled, but the poster looks somewhat stark, and the trailer sells itself like a pretty upbeat coming-of-age crime drama.

Check it out below and judge for yourselves I suppose.

Spy Action Thriller, NEGATIVE, Hits DVD This Week

Image
Upon further viewing of the latest home release trailer for director Joshua Caldwell’s action thriller Negative, I knew certain footage looked familiar and it was from what I'd seen in a few recent fight reels from stunt professional Daniel Locicero who coordinated the stunt work on this one. That's at least one other thing the film has going for itself for those keen on female-led espionage thrillers such as this one from Meyenbauer Entertainment and penned by Adam Gaines, now heading to DVD on May 22 from Monarch Home Entertainment with Katia Winter, Sebastian Roche, Josh Randall, Simon Quarterman and Marem Hassler starring, A burned MI5 agent on the run from a deadly cartel kidnaps a photographer in order to save him after he innocently crosses her path. The unlikely pair take an outlandish jaunt across the southwestern United States in order to find safe haven.Catch the trailer below and pre-order today!
